Description: Cheer and Dance offers two classes for special needs children. The Sunshine Team has won many awards and always receive a standing ovation! They have performed at numerous competitions and shows throughout the Omaha and Lincoln area. The students learn cheers, jumping, on trampolines, stunts and much more! This team has made a huge impact on the kids’ self-esteem and confidence.

Description: Great Plains PVA’s adapted health and fitness center is a specialized training center that focuses on a person’s differing abilities and individual health and fitness goals. This program promotes improved strength, endurance, balance, and overall health while at the same time enhancing independence, confidence and quality of life. It is an on-going program that is open to children and adults with a disability. WE have a personal trainer on staff who works with individuals to help them meet their own personal goals.

Munroe Meyer/AAP ipad Lending Library
The Munroe Meyer Speech Department in partnership with Autism Action Partnership has created an iPad and iPod lending library. The purpose behind this library is to provide families affected by ASD the opportunity to try iPads and iPods as communication devices before they go to the expense of purchasing their own.

Next Chapter Book Club - New Program of Ollie Webb Center, Inc.

Description: In 2011, Ollie Webb Center, Inc. became an affiliated chapter of the Next Chapter Book Club that was started in Columbus, OH in 2002 through Ohio State University. There are now more than 130 book clubs in 16 states and 3 countries. Funding was made possible through a grant from Meyer Foundation for Disabilities. The Next Chapter Book Club (NCBC) is committed to promot8ion literacy and social connection experience for adolescents and adults (18 years and older) with intellectual disabilities and other disabilities, that encourage friendship and lifelong learning within a community based setting. Each book club is made up of 5 to 8 people with disabilities, regardless of their reading skills, gather with 2 volunteer facilitators in a local bookstore, coffee shop or café to read aloud and discuss a book for 1 hour a week. Books will be chosen from a listing of high interest, low reading level received from the main Next Chapter Book Club location in Ohio. The goal is to have small book clubs meeting throughout the city to make transportation easier for families. The registration fee is $30 plus the cost of books.
