PETALS Support Group

PETALS (Parents Establishing Ties for Autism Life Success) meets the third Tuesday of the month at at 717 Ann Street.   Meetings begin at 5:30 p.m. in the downstairs classroom.  For additional information call Chrissy at 308-430-5569 or e-mail at chadronpetals@yahoo.com

 

 

GRAND ISLAND


Grand Island Parent Groups

This group meets the second Sunday of the month at Third City Christian Church located at 4100 W. 13th Street. Meetings are from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Contact Roxanne Vipond at rvipond@gips.org for more information.  


KEARNEY

Autism Support Group of Kearney (ASK)

This group meets the first Thursday of the month from 6 to 7:30 pm on the second floor of the Kearney Public Library. Childcare is available at Kidzone, the Kearney Area Children’s Museum. You must contact the Arc of Buffalo County in advance. Please contact Cynthia Archwamety at arcofbuffalocounty@frontiernet.net for more information. This group does not meet over the summer.  Meetings will resume in September.


LINCOLN

Autism Family Network (AFN)
This Lincoln-area support organization meets monthly. It alternates months between family fun events and informative events with relevant speakers on topics of interest. Fun events are usually held in the community (swimming, skating, movies, children’s museum, etc.). Informational meetings usually take place the second Sunday of the month at Christ Lutheran Church at 44th and Sumner. Events are typically scheduled only about a month in advance. Lincoln Area Autism Support Group

NORFOLK

Autism Support Group of Norfolk

OMAHA

Asperger’s Syndrome Support Group

This group meets the last Friday of each month from 12 to 1:30 pm at the Millard Public Library located at 13214 Westwood Lane. Contact Allison Arntz at (402) 896-6584 or Celeste Montoya at (402) 891-6166 for more information.  Please note: There will be no support group meetings during the months of June or July due to the library’s reading program.


Omaha Autism Family Support Group

This group meets the first Monday of the month from 6 to 8 pm at Pump It Up, 960 South 72 Street in Omaha. This is a private event for families with children on the autism spectrum. The cost is $5 per child with a $10 maximum. Please print off a waiver at www.pumpitupparty.com. All participating children will need to have a new, signed waiver each session. Support Group for Siblings of Children with Autism

This free support group, sponsored by Autism Action Partnership, meets weekly in four-week intervals. Younger elementary, upper elementary, middle school and high school children are welcome. The group’s goal is to increase siblings’ understanding of their brother or sister’s disability and help them feel more positive about themselves and their role. Includes exercises, games, group discussions and activities to provide a better understanding of autism and to foster exploration of the feelings and attitudes associated with living with a brother or sister with autism.
