State and Federal governments provide critical and, often times, life sustaining services for people with disabilities. Nebraska offers a variety of state programs and services. Federal services and federal resources are also available. Most of these organizations have websites that explain their services and provide applications and qualifications for approval of services. When searching for services and programs at a state and federal level, it is often consuming and challenging to navigate the system and understand the best service to meet your needs. In addition, there are often qualifications to that need to be met. To streamline the process, it is recommended to deal with parents and professional resources that have experience and knowledge in programs and services that are offered at the state and federal levels. In Nebraska there are organizations that can assist parents, caregivers and others in the community to locate state and federal services for the special needs of people with disabilities.
PTI Nebraska is a statewide resource for families of children with disabilities and special health care needs. PTI’s provides information, support and training to Nebraska parents and others who need to understand the state and federal services that are available to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities from birth through twenty six. PTI Nebraska's staff are parent/professionals and are available to talk to parents and professionals about available services, special education, and disability specific information that best fits the family needs.
